Is Cheaper Better?

Many new companies these days are trying to "cash in" on the training required for visual inspection for high pressure cylinders otherwise referred to commonly as "tank inspection". We take that as a compliment. But there is still only one company that is recognized as the original and foremost authority on visual cylinder inspection. That company is Professional Scuba Inspectors, Inc. But why are we the best?
Professional Scuba Inspectors, Inc. has been in the research and training business for nearly 30 years. We have worked closely with the Department of Transportation, the Compressed Gas Association and cylinder manufacturers to gather the information pertinent to cylinder hazmat safety and inspection. These companies recognize the training that has been established by Professional Scuba Inspectors, Inc. Individuals who have taken our training and moved into the various industries that utilize high pressure cylinders provide valuable information and expertise to their employers. The PSI/PCI certification is recognized worldwide as an important part of cylinder handling.
PSI/PCI Instructors attend rigorous training to teach the PSI/PCI programs. It is not an easy course to complete, nor is it "cheap". But it does equip the individuals who complete it with the knowledge and expertise to train others using the correct information and regulations related to cylinder inspection and the associated training offered by PSI/PCI. Currently we have over 105 active instructors around the world. In nearly 30 years of business we have only trained about 200 instructors. Why is that? It is because we are more concerned about our instructor qualifications rather than dollars.
In the market today it is easy to be concerned with cost. Cost is an important factor. But it shouldn't be the only one. Many of the cheaper alternatives have taken copywritten information from PSI/PCI and other sources to create their own "program". And we have heard people tell us that they want to take another course just because it is "cheaper". But what specifically will you get for taking a cheaper, unrecognized program for training on high pressure cylinder inspection? Essentially cheaper, unrecognized, and likely fallible training.
With the years of study, research and work that has gone into the creation of the PSI/PCI Visual Inspection programs, it could be three times the cost. But it isn't. It is a fair price for what you get: Thorough, recognized and authoritative visual cylinder inspection training. Experts in the various fields have contributed to the PSI/PCI inspection program as well as the PSI/PCI Valve Repair, PSI/PCI Eddy Current Instrument and PSI/PCI Oxygen Cylinder Cleaning programs. PSI/PCI programs meet the Federal requirements for these specific programs. We believe you get what you pay for!
